Smithsonian Channel enlisted Haley Miranda Group to design and execute an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) competition for high school students based on their riveting documentary, The Incredible Bionic Man. We created a multi-level competition for students to build their own bionic replacement part using ordinary household items. The grand prize was a $5,000 scholarship.
We got educator buy-in with highly detailed, multi-level curriculum resources which made it easy for teachers to meet instructional requirements for Biology or Engineering in a fun and interesting way. TV spots, email and direct mail drove students and teachers to the contest microsite. Finalists won a trip to an event at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., where they met the actual Bionic Man.
